For Move-In Day

  • A move-in dolly or hand truck
  • PPE: face mask/covering and gloves
  • Hand sanitizer

For Your Room
Check with your roommate(s) prior to move-in to see what items, like rugs or appliances, can be purchased by one person and shared

  • Fan (ensure that the fan is quiet but powerful)
  • Surge Protector or UL-rated power strip

Bedding and Linens:

  • Twin XL mattress pad or foam topper
  • Bed bug protective mattress cover
  • Pillow and pillowcase
  • Comforter or duvet cover
  • Standard twin XL sheets
  • Bath Towels
  • Bathroom rug

Desk Supplies:

  • Folders
  • Binders
  • Pens/pencils
  • Planner
  • Post-it notes
  • Tape

Kitchenette Supplies:

  • Kitchen utensils (cups, plates, bowls, forks, spoons, mugs)
  • Dish soap and sponge
  • Dish holder
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Water pitcher/filter

Bathroom and Laundry Supplies:

  • Bath caddy to carry personal toiletries from your room to the bathroom
  • Personal care products (ex: shampoo, bod wash, face wash, etc.)
  • Shower shoes

  • Laundry bag/basket
  • Laundry detergent
  • Dryer sheets
  • Stain remover

Misc. Helpful Items:

  • Trash can
  • Umbrella
  • Folding lawn chair for outdoor meetings

For Emergencies

General Items:

  • A small first-aid kit
  • Emergency contact information, documents, medical insurance cards, etc.

COVID-19 emergency bag if you are required to go into isolation or quarantine:

  • A duffle bag or carry-on sized bag
  • Medication
  • Phone and phone charger
  • Books and class materials to last 14+ days
  • Pajamas or clothes you are comfortable sleeping in
  • Snacks
  • Pillow
  • Socks
  • Laptop or table and charger
  • Shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, other toiletries

Prohibited Items (Do Not Bring)
The following items are prohibited. Students should not bring them to campus, as they will be confiscated by Housing and Residence Life staff. Prohibited items will not be returned to students.

  • Weapons
  • Alcohol
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Extension cords: These are a fire hazard in communal living spaces due to the number of appliances plugged into one socket. However, students are allowed to bring multiple-outlet surge protectors that are UL-rated.
  • Anything with an open flame, such as candles
  • Anything with an open heating element (ex: toasters, hot plates, etc)
  • Air conditioning units
  • Electric heaters
  • Halogen and lava lamps
  • Heavy duty appliances
  • Paper lanterns
  • Paper lamp shades
